Depois do New York Film Critics Circle, foi a vez do Washington D.C. Area Film Critics seleccionar The Artist como o melhor filme do ano. Este prémio vem reforçar a aposta num filme que poderá ser o vencedor do galardão principal dos Óscares, embora este ano a corrida esteja ainda bastante indefinida. Curiosa também a escolha de Martin Scorsese como Melhor Realizador por Hugo, isto depois de ter vencido também no National Board of Review.
