Boyhood venceu em três categorias dos Globos de Ouro 2015, incluindo Melhor Filme (Drama), Melhor Realizador e Melhor Actriz Secundária. Birdman, e apesar das suas sete nomeações, foi premiado apenas na categoria de Melhor Actor (Comédia ou Musical) e Melhor Argumento, perdendo na categoria de Melhor Filme (Comédia ou Musical) para The Grand Budapest Hotel. Surpresa nas categorias de Melhor Filme de Animação (o prémio foi para How To Train Your Dragon 2) e Melhor Filme Estrangeiro (Leviathan, da Rússia).

Nas categorias televisivas tudo foi menos previsível, como de costume. A estreante The Affair venceu como a Melhor Série (Drama) e Melhor Actriz (Drama), enquanto que Transparent foi a Melhor Série (Comédia ou Musical) e Melhor Actor (Comédia ou Musical). Gina Rodriguez foi premiada como Melhor Actriz (Comédia ou Musical) por Jane the Virgin, enquanto que Fargo é duplamente premiada (Melhor Telefilme ou Minissérie e Melhor Actor em Telefilme ou Minissérie) vencendo True Detective, que não recebe qualquer galardão.
